Past Future Tense

Past Future Tense adalah tense yang biasa digunakan untuk mengungkapkan suatu keinginan yang tidak terjadi seperti yang seharusnya. Dikatakan Past karena kejadiannya di masa lalu dan disebut future karena sedianya akan dilakukan. Karena sedianya terjadi, maka kenyataannya selalu berlawanan. Sebenarnya tense ini merupakan kategori simple seperti simple present/past/future tense karena tidak menunjukkan keterangan bahwa pekerjaan tersebut telah (perfect) atau sedang (continuous) dikerjakan. Rumus ini hanya memerlukan dua identitas tense, yaitu past: verb-2 dan future: will + verb-1 (atau tepatnya Infinitive). Jika digabungkan maka bentuk kedua (verb-2) dari will, yaitu would + verb-1 (inf.) sehingga rumus dasar past future tense adalah S + Would + Infinitive.
